Aims: To revise the lexico-grammatical material of the theme «The Living World». To practise in reading, speaking, writing and listening. To develop thinking ability, memory, attention. To broaden the pupils’ mind. To bring up to love the nature, the living world and to take care of it.
Visual aids: Cards with the texts, slides and interactive board.
Plan
- Preliminary moment.
-Good afternoon, pupils! Glad to see you. Sit down. Today at the lesson you can see many guests –our teachers. I hope you will be active and show your knowledge of the theme. Let’s start! What’s the theme of our lesson? (Slide № 1).Right you are. So today at the lesson we’ll read and speak about animals and plants. But first let’s have some phonetic drill. Look at the board.
- Phonetic drill. The English proverbs: (Slide № 2).
- Barking dogs seldom bite.
to bark [ ba:k] –лаять
to bite [ bait] — кусать
- As the tree, so the fruit.
- When pigs fly.
Pronounce after me! Good. And now name the words connected with our theme.
( dogs, tree, fruit, pigs)
III. Lexical work.
-Let us see how you know the topical vocabulary.
a). Make up a word: (Slide № 3).

b). Complete the chart grouping the words into two. (Slide № 4).

IV.Reading. Now we are going to read short texts. I’ll divide you into 2 groups. Each group will get a text. First you’ll work in pairs, then in small groups. After it one pupil from the group will retell the text. Start reading, please!
a). Reading in pairs. Tanslating the unknown words.
b). Discussing the text in small groups. Translating the new words and giving Wrong –Right statements.
c). Retelling the text. ( 1 pupil from each group retells the text).
The text for the first group- «Dolphins and whales».
Statements: 1. Dolphins aren’t clever.
- Dolphins sleep only two hours a day.
- The blue whale isn’t large.
- Its tongue is very large.
- Whales can swim back.
The text for the second group — «The kiwi».
Statements: 1. The kiwi is a small animal.
- It lives only in New Zealand.
- It’s a symbol of G.B.
- The kiwi can fly.
- Its weight is about 2 kilograms.
- Working on the grammar – the Past Simple and the Present Perfect. (Interrogative sentences). (Slide № 6).
1.The children saw many interesting animals at the Zoo. (for the 1 group)
- We’ve gathered a lot of red apples in the garden. (for the 2 group)
(The pupils are working in two groups.The task is to put as many questions to the sentence as possible. Control of the questions).
